Nancy Vaughan, President of Rise and Shine Designs, Inc.,  is among the ranks of entrepreneurial
Moms whose great ideas have sparked big business while improving family life at home.

      Trained as a certified public accountant with undergraduate and graduate degrees from University
of Southern California, Nancy worked ten (10) years for KPMG, an international accounting and
consulting firm, before deciding to pursue her entrepreneurial dreams.

      In 2004, Nancy founded Rise and Shine Designs, Inc., based in Newport Beach, California.  As a
mother to three children, ages 7, 5, and 3, Nancy was inspired to create products that enrich the lives
of children while making family life better.  The first products marketed by Rise and Shine Designs,
Inc. include The Magic Elf and Nancy’s Chore Cards.

      The Magic Elf is a Christmas product which consists of a small Santa Claus doll with wings and 25
Christmas messages.  Every night from December 1st through the 25th, (with the help of parents),The
Magic Elf “hides” in a different spot in the house.  Each morning, the children search the house to find
the Elf and his message.  Each message focuses on the meaning of Christmas and the spirit of the
season.

      Nancy’s Chore Cards product line was developed to help parents and children manage their daily
household chores.  Specifically, the cards are designed to put the responsibility of completing chores in
the hands of the child so (s)he can feel accomplishment and a sense of accountability.  The chore cards
come with a set of “no damage” wall hooks on which to hang the cards in a visible/accessible location.  
At chore time the child grabs a card, completes the chore and flips the card over on the hook revealing
a star.
